If an active regeneration is activated but you reach your destination before it’s had a chance to clear up the soot on the filter, you will likely get a DPF warning light that could be cleared by driving your car at > 40mph for 15 to 30 minutes. This allows the DPF to burn off the soot even when not traveling at a very high speed. When the soot gathered reaches this amount, it triggers the process of post-combustion fuel injection which increases the temperature of the exhaust. That solution is an active regeneration of the DPF which is triggered when the soot level reaches a certain threshold value (for most cars that value is > 45%). Since not reaching high enough speed to regenerate the filter would be a problem for a lot of people, manufacturers had to come up with a better solution to this problem. However as most people usually drive to and from work, there is a possibility that they would not reach such high speeds for a long time, which means that the filter will eventually clog. At that speed, the exhaust is heated enough so that it would burn off the collected soot in the DPF. The passive regeneration is triggered when driving at 70mph or above. There are two types of DPF regeneration - passive and active. This regeneration makes sure the filter does not get blocked by burning off the soot that has been collected. The cleaning process of that filter is called DPF regeneration. That is also the case with the Diesel Particulate Filter. Users´ demand for adding newer models increased so we can confirm that the DPF tool for MK7 and B9 models is now available in Carista, which means 2015+ 4-cylinder engines (1.4, 1.6, 2.0 TDI) can benefit from Carista Active DPF Regeneration. DPF tool for all Volkswagen, Audi, Seat, and Skoda 2011–2015 (inclusive) model year diesel engines, regardless of their cylinder count or volume and 2015+ 6-cylinder engines (2.7, 3.0 TDI) was released a few months ago.
